Here at Light Bay Photography Studio we specialize in photographing expecting mothers. We know that this is a very special moment in a woman’s life and we love to help them capture it for all time.

Below are some Frequently Asked Questions about our Maternity sessions.

When should I schedule my photo session?

* Although we welcome mothers-to-be at anytime during their pregnancy, we highly recommend coming in during the 7th month. We feel that it is during this month that our pregnant clients show best. Please schedule at least 2 weeks in advance.

How can I prepare before coming into your studio?

* At least 3-4 hours before the photo session, please remove anything with elastic. This includes bras, underwear, and pants. This is to prevent strap marks from appearing in the photos.
* Schedule an appointment for your maternity session on a day that everyone included will be relaxed. Please try to keep that day and the day before as stress-free as possible.
* Eat a small snack before coming in for the shoot.

Who will be photographing me?

* This is often one of our pregnant clients’ biggest concerns and here at Light Bay Studio, we understand. Margret Kielb is a highly experienced and professional photographer who has been photographing pregnant women for years. She understands the concerns of these women, and works very closely with them to produce a smooth and comfortable photo session.

What should I wear?

* We ask that you wear soft, flexible, and comfortable clothing.
* Please bring 1 black outfit and 1 white outfit along with you.
* All outfits must be 2 pieces, so that we have the option of baring the belly.
* You will be photographed barefoot so don’t worry about shoes.
* Jewelry is acceptable but remember that too much jewelry can be too distracting.
* Hair and make-up is left to your discretion. We don’t like to set limitations on that because we want you to be at your most comfortable state.

Can my spouse and/or other children be photographed with me?

* But of course. We will be creating lifelong memories with these images, and we wouldn’t want to leave out anyone.

What should they wear?

* We have the same requests from your children and spouse. They should come dressed in semi-casual attire.
* They should be wearing solid clothing. Patterns take away attention for the subjects and priceless expressions.
* White and/or black clothing is requested.
* Lastly, they will also be photographed barefoot.

Can I pose nude during my maternity session?

* Yes! Upon request, we would be more than happy to photograph nude maternity photos.

What about my stretch marks?

* No worries at all. We understand that many pregnant clients have special requests for trouble spots. Our duty is to create flawless images for you. For that reason, we offer our retouching services to you included in the sitting fee.

Do I have to come into your studio for the session?

* No, it is completely your preference. We offer services that include our photographer coming to your location of choice. Please mention this when scheduling your appointment.

What if I don’t feel comfortable about my session?

* We take great care of our expecting mothers. We will walk you through every step of the session and answer any questions you may have before we begin to ensure your comfort. We go to great lengths to make our studio warm and comfortable, and we also make sure our mothers get to take a break during their session so as to not over exert  them. Also, we  make sure to have healthy refreshments on standby for our mothers at all times during the session.
* If at any time you wish to pause your session, that is OK by us. All you need do is ask.
