FAQs for Portraits
What wardrobe tips can you offer us?
* We prefer that you select an outfit that best represents your or your child’s personality. You may want to ware or bring your child in their favorite outfit, to assure comfort which in turn will maintain a positive attitude. Make sure the clothes look clean and sharp. If we will be photographing your newborn, bare skin usually works best but is completely up to you.
May we bring our own props?
* Feel free to bring in your own props. We believe it can add personality to a photograph. For your child, toys, such as a blanket or a favorite stuffed animal, or anything your child cherishes is welcome in our studio.
How many poses will you take?
* We do not limit the number of poses we will take of you or your child, as long as it is within our one hour limit.
Can I purchase holiday or announcement cards using my favorite image?
* Yes, upon reviewing the images and selecting a favorite(s), you have the choice of purchasing any size you like, and/or cards. We offer personal text at no charge with the cards.
Can I bring along others such as friends or relatives on the day of the session?
* They are welcome to the session only if they will be photographed as well. Otherwise, we have discovered that the more people that are present, the less successful the session turns out to be. We want to be able to keep distractions to a minimum and would like client to give us their 100% focus.
What if I or my child gets sick before the session?
* If you or your child gets sick before the session, call us immediately to reschedule for a better time. If possible, please give us a 24 hour notice.
What if I or my my child has a small bruise or scratch?
*Bruises or scratches should be judged upon your discretion. Relatively small bruises and scratches can be digitally edited and is included in your sitting fee.
Do you do on location portraits?
* You name the place, and we will be there. Please be sure to mention this when calling and scheduling your appointment with us so we can work together in determining the best time to do this.
I really want my child to be photographed but he/she is extremely shy. Should I even bother bringing them in?
* We understand your concern as a parent. Although we don’t feel as if you should force your child to be photographed, our highly experienced and friendly staff would try to make your child feel as comfortable as possible.
What is the earliest age my child can be to be photographed?
* This is entirely up to you. We can photograph your newborn as early as a day old, so you make the choice. However, here are a few suggestions from us: If you want true newborn portraits, we suggest doing the baby’s session before they are 2 weeks old. This is so we can those super cute scrunched up and sleepy portraits. Also keep in mind, baby acne flares up at about 3weeks old. Between the 6 and 8th months are also a great time to be photographed also. Babies are generally able to sit up at this time. By the 9th month, babies are able to laugh, smile, and provide great expressions for us to capture so this is another time you may want to consider coming in!
